About Me
Hi, I’m happy to see you here. Often people only care about the car being cleaned, but this section is a little more than just that. It’s about me.
Detailing, how it all happened
My journey into the world of detailing began two years ago as of my writing this. with a simple desire to make my car not dirty. I got my license and was very grateful to be given a car to drive, this car was originally my mothers, then my sisters, my brothers, and my sisters again. My sister had my nephew and if you can imagine the condition of this car after he was two years old you might understand why I started cleaning.
My expensive and very long journey
With someone that young in the car the crumbs, the stains, the mess was insane, oh and we had a dog at the time. Diesel, Diesel was a messy dog, lots of hair and lots or drool. He also made the car dirty, so when I got the proper motivation to clean my car, I went to a local store I bought a bunch of stuff. Your average chemicals you find in a supermarket and took my vacuum outside, I spent 6 hours cleaning my car and after all that time, it looked terrible. The vacuum I had, the system (which it really wasn’t a system at all) I used, the chemicals I sprayed, the brush I used to agitate (which broke) and the towels I used to remove the chemicals all sucked. I spent the last year, choosing products that work safely on everything in a car, it took so long to find trustworthy brands. Working chemicals, a nice vacuum that wouldn’t just break, a pressure washer that was mobile and not large and clunky. I gave so much time into this so I could clean my vehicle and make it perfect, and finally every crumb was gone, stain removed, and I felt like I could breathe in my car. The next month I did the same process again, granted it was much easier I found I actually really enjoyed cleaning my car. So my newfound passion was a monthly occurrence, from there I cleaned just as a hobby, maybe a side hustle, for friends and family alone.
My personal business
So I cleaned for just friends but eventually I made money from this and it snowballed into what could be a career. Then I quit, I quit because I didn’t want my passion to become my job, something I would come to hate, and dread. I started another job working for a year or so until I realized this was not what I wanted to do. But what did I like to do? I liked detailing, and not just the clean carpets, the satisfying stain removal, or the pressure washer that you feel kicking gallons of what at high speeds, not the bubbles and the nice smell. I liked the people, I liked the reaction, the smile and happy faces I got from people who were so excited and impressed I had restored their vehicle. I no longer detail just for the money, I do it to make peoples lives easier.
Two of my favorite stories are from a family friend and a family contractor; the family friend was having surgery on her leg and knee, and she couldn’t clean anything, she couldn’t lean or pick things up off the floor. So there I was cleaning her car so that I could make her life a little easier, this story showed me even something as simple as cleaning a car can help someone in a hard scenario.
While the other scenario shows something similar, the family contractor had a filthy car with smoke ash, lots of stains and many damaged areas from his job. He was an electrician, he finally saved up enough to buy a van that way his job was made a little easier and he now had a work van and a family car. But that family car didn’t feel like family, it felt dirty and stiff, so I went and cleaned it for him. finally his car felt like his car again, not a burden or a struggle to sit in. This story showed me even something as simple as cleaning a car can help someone celebrate their next steps with family and their company.
